Your goals are attainable.
You're just misinformed, overwhelmed, and you're not lifting heavy enough.
As women, the wellness industry has brainwashed into doing more to become less. More HiiT, more cardio, less calories. Does that sound like you? If so, how is that formula treating you?
Don't worry. You're not alone.
My approach to helping you reach your goals is to create a foundation of strength that we can continue to build on. Resistance training builds precious muscle and bone density (which we're losing at a rate of 1% per year after age 30), it speeds up your metabolism (so you don't have to try to out-run your tiny unsatisfying lunch), it keeps your body young and functioning (can your parents sit on the floor and play with your kids comfortably?) and aesthetically, it gives you the toned body you're probably looking for -- because even if you over-cardio yourself down to your skeleton, you're still not going to be "toned" if there are no muscles there.
Screaming it, forever: Muscle is the fountain of youth. If you replaced your severe calorie cutting and excessive cortisol-inducing cardio with a healthy meal and a strength training session, you would be closer to your goals.
But it's not always that easy, is it? Where do you start? What machines do you use at the gym? How heavy do you lift? How often? What if you don't have access to a gym? What if you've BEEN resistance training and it's not giving the results you expected? How often should you change what you do in the gym? How long should you rest between sets?
That's where I come in.
I assess all the factors, I teach you how to move, and I build a fully customized plan to reach your specific unique goals with the equipment you have available to you (if any). Your plan evolves as you get stronger, so you never hit a plateau and stop progressing. We assess your eating habits and talk about fueling your body pre- and post- workout. My approach is to add healthy habits to your lifestyle, not severely restrict and take too much away. (What is life without donuts?!)
I design programs for individuals of all fitness levels, any amount of experience, any age, limitations, or mobility issues. I build your program for you completely from scratch, so the process begins with a long, in-depth intro call where we’ll take a deep-dive on your history with exercise, health, physical or mental struggles and roadblocks, prior injuries, lifestyle, your unique specific goals, where you’ll be performing your workouts, and what equipment you have available to you. We’ll then work together on a baseline assessment where you’ll do a couple of exercises (technically this is your first scheduled workout!) and we’ll log your results. This helps me pinpoint your fitness level and begin to build out the beginning of your program.
It’s important to reiterate that there are no two programs that are the same. I don’t implement a single program with variations to all of my clients — rather, each client’s program is built from scratch. From the exercises we’ll use, to the equipment, the frequency, the duration of your sessions, the focus of the workouts, how it’s periodized to bring you results — it’s *all* specified to what we will discuss in the intro call and the results of your fitness assessment.
The best part? You can now complete your workouts without coming to me. Same workout, same progressions, same everything -- you just don't have to drive, park, pay $50, and get only 60 minutes during business hours with me to complete your workout (if you're not late, that is). Instead, you get to log in at whatever time is convenient for you, tap on your calendar, open your scheduled workout, and take as long as you need to complete it.
One of the most important parts of this whole app training option is that I'm able to deliver the exact same programming at a wildly cheaper rate (I don't have to get a babysitter and be somewhere in person, no gym rental fee). Sessions are $50 each in person. The same exact session accessed via my app breaks down to about $10 each depending on how many workouts you have each week. The investment for 1:1 personal training via my app is $135/month. (3 months due up front, so you aren't tempted to quit before it starts working).
My second favorite thing about the app are the progress graphs. Each time you complete an exercise, you're prompted to log what you actually did — because you might not complete every rep as listed, and I track what you do, not just what's on the plan. These stats are collected for each exercise, every time, so you can see your strength gains in graph form for every exercise you've ever completed. It's so motivational to see an upward trend on these graphs!
As I mentioned before, your workouts are scheduled for you, but you can complete them at your convenience. Sick? Reschedule. New plans? Do your workout later. Plus no more missing 5 of your 60 min workout if you're stuck in traffic or have to pee or answer a phone call mid-session. You also won’t feel rushed in your break times, since you’re not paying by the minute!
I am still available via text, call, or FaceTime for whatever questions you may have during or not during your workouts. For example: have an exercise you feel like your form could improve on, or something you’d like my eyes on? Set up your phone on the counter, reverse the camera so you can see yourself, film the exercise, and send it to me. We periodically exchange videos of you performing exercises to perfect your form and alignment (breaking it down this way is incredibly valuable for teaching yourself healthy movement).
One of the things we go over during our discovery call is where you'll be completing your workouts and what equipment you have available to you. We use what you have. Realistically, we can make any amount of equipment work. Have nothing? We start with a bodyweight program. Have a gym membership? We have lots of equipment available to us. Have some random weights at home and prefer to work out alone? Great! Literally anything you have, we will build a working program with. (And if needed, I’ll make suggestions on what free-weights to buy next).
Initially I was using this app as an option for my in-person clients to continue training during the covid-era gym shutdown of 2020. After the gym opened back up, though, everyone wanted to keep training on the app instead! The feedback consensus has been that the instructions are even more thorough than being in person, since you have the instructions, cues and videos right there to watch and re-watch and focus on, AND you’ll have the option to text/call me with questions. I often send video responses or will FaceTime you (whatever you prefer) to adjust your alignment. This way I’m offering you three different ways to learn it, versus one, showing you in person.
Just like a meal plan only works if you eat the food, this only works if you put in the work. You can't Venmo me and expect your problems to be solved. Your monthly investment is a commitment to yourself to put in the work needed to reach your goals. No more questions, no more trying ten thousand new things and expending all your energy to feel hungry and tired all the time. Let me figure out all the fine details and keep you progressing in the direction you desire. Your job is to log in, sweat, log out, and eat.
Let's chat to see if we'd be a good match.
xoxo
